Aya Sofya | Hello from Istanbul. Wow, wow, wow! Can I just say this is probably one of the most culturally diverse cities, EVER! I spent an entire day walking around , getting lost , and taking in all the sights and smells. Oh my gosh, the food! If you’re a foodie, this city is for you. Be sure to check my Instagram stories tomorrow for a recap on 24 hours in Istanbul. Thank you to @lookfromanotherangle for showing me around and playing my Instagram BF yesterday 😛. Until tomorrow y’all , güle güle ( bye-bye)
The dual Status of Hagya Sofia are clearly preserved in its interior art and architecture, as if it is narrating its own journey in time. A Christian Cathedral in the east roman Era, a muslim mosque in the ottoman period and now a museum. #istanbul#travelturkey
“This good weather ruined me, I resigned in such a weather From my government job. I got used to tobacco in such a weather, I fell in love in such a weather; I forgot to take home bread and salt In such a weather; My disease of writing poems Recurred in such a weather; This good weather ruined me.” -Orhan Veli Kanık . .

Couldn’t decide which shot is prettier because, obviously, Aya Sofia is the work of art and one of the must see things in a lifetime! Just a little tip: don’t take a grumpy kid with you, turns out they are not very impressed by magnificent architecture at this age 😒
An amazing day adventuring around Istanbul. Doing Ayasofia, the Blue Mosque and the Grand Bazaar street food for lunch just amazing !!Walked from Taksim square all the way. Now if anyone has been gere you know it's a hike #istanbul#amazing
Ayasofya is one of Istanbul’s most impressive historical structures with the world’s first self-supporting dome ceiling, on massive scale. When Viking King Harald visited he graffitied “Harald was here” in ancient Viking tongue. When Obama visited, this little cat was perched inside, and Obama knelt down to pat it (the photos went viral). This little street cat is now famous, and lives in this grand, significant building and has become a darling for visitors from all over the world. The contrast of wealth, religion and status is brought right back down to Earth for me by this little cross eyed ...
Chandeliers at the Ayasofya. Having been built at the very beginning of the Middle Ages, they’ve been converted to electricity. After filming scenes from Argo here, Ben Affleck is said to have helped the museum change the light quality over to a warmer tone that shows the Ayasofya in its best light.
The magnificent interior boasts both Christian and Islamic influences. Above, the gigantic dome was the largest in it’s time, spanning a diameter of 30 meters - the difficulty and engineering genius required made this structure the most complex building of Antiquity #istanbul#hagiasophia
[Day 14: Ayasofya/ Hagia Sophia/ Holy Wisdom ] . It’s the most impressive architecture marvel so far in this trip! I love that there were 2 religions worshiped under these roof centuries ago. Byzantine influence during the Roman Empire period with Jesus on the wall, later conquered by the Ottoman Empire, they retained the interior and turned it into a mosque. This building was built in AD537, it’s amazing to look at all the stones, mosaic, marbles and architectural structure even by today standards, it’s definitely a must see if you come to Istanbul. Although some part of the wall ...
