I had hoped to see this in all its fall glory, but was about a week early. Had I come back I would have captured speckles of snow. Not a fan of speckles so I'm ok with what I got. I will come back for pristine fluffy snow though.😎
Larches are a pot of gold in the fall hiking season; their flaming yellow needles turn a Cascade landscape into something ethereal and otherworldly 📸 @juno_pnw #larchmadness . . . . . . . . #girlgetoutside
It is not the mountain we conquer, but ourselves. . . . I only recently realized this, but hiking is somewhat of a moving meditation for me. When I head to the mountains, I take time to notice the smell of the pines in the sun or the ground soaked with rain (maybe I’m subconsciously distracting myself from how much my thighs are burning? 😂). I find myself using the time to unpack emotions, and to thank my body for helping me see all the beauty around me. Maybe that’s part of the reason I can’t stay away 🏔
Larches are so much softer than I thought. Ive only seen them from a distance so I was imagining prickly evergreen trees. Delicate little Dr. Suess trees. 📸 @jitabebe . . . . . #cascadiaexplored#optoutside
Golden larch, blue skies, fresh snow, and open water. As an outdoor photographer I really can’t ask for much more to come together in a landscape scene. Created w/ my Sony a7Riii + 24-105mm f/4 G lens #a7riii#sonyalpha
Anyone else get all giggly when they are struggling up a mountain with unbelievable views? I giggled a lot on this trip...although, the giggles almost turned to tears in the last 6 miles. But, totally worth staying up for those 22 hours straight! #allsmiles#allblue . . .

Happy Friday! Who’s excited to get outside this weekend? ⛰ View from the peak of Mt Defiance two weeks ago, before all the rain started here in western WA. Think it’ll be all snow covered in another month or so... . . . . . #pnw#pnwonderland
Winter in the mountains has hit pretty quickly this year and I've barely gotten out the past couple months. Been working on quite a few projects lately, though. Hopefully those will be out soon for you 😊
We were in Washington for 2.5 days and we were able to enjoy beautiful weather for a quarter of our time there.⠀ ⠀ On this specific hike, we started a little too late, but making our way to the lake just in time before we lost all sunlight. We ended up turning around after losing the trail, just as we pulled out our headlamps, but it was also nice to hike alongside the reflection of the half moon on the lake.⠀ ⠀ It started raining at 4 am the next morning and this was the last clear view of the ...
Accepting lunch reservations; book your table with a view at OpenRock and earn points on your AlpineRewards card. Call in the next 20 minutes and this living rock will still be melting. 😮 Here’s hoping trails like these never get privatized or capitalized... #protectourparks#pnwhiking
Having not grown up in the land of “no sun and always wet plus overcast,” my recent visit to Missouri had me wondering if maybe I’m destined for somewhere warmer. But leaving these mountains...I don’t know if I could do it. Doesn’t feel like “back home” but certainly feels the most “like home” these days. 🏔🥾💚 • 📸 by TwoPeaks @every2pines
The change in seasons at the same location only a few weeks apart. The first one was fun to compose as the sun danced across the granite and the reflection was stunning. The second one I struggled to get a reflection in a small puddle atop the already frozen tarn, solid enough to walk on.
Saw bear. Forgot what to do about bear. Freaked out a little. Texted boyfriend asking what to do. Forgot with that data I could have just looked it up. Made some serious eye contact with bear. Didn’t get eaten. The end.
Started off almost 20 degrees warmer last night on my after work hike/trail run...and then about 3 miles in..the front came with heavy rain and a drop of almost 20 degrees since my start! The good part? I got to see some moody mtn views AND only saw 1 other person all night as crazy as I am out there in the rain #pnw#optoutside
Oh. Right. It’s going to be one of those kinds of days/weekends/months/seasons. If you haven’t spent a winter in the PNW, hold on. __ [image: A line of trees is silhouetted on a ridge barely visible through the clouds and fog.] __ #hiking#pnw
