Custom Mixte - we built this one up with a 1 x 8 drivechain, handbuilt wheels with some beautifully smooth Shimano vintage hubs and new Magic A319 rims. Wet roads never a problem with SKS Chromoplastic mudguards. This baby is smooth, light and really comfy! Enjoy Kath! @kathjhw #custombicycles#handbuiltwheels
Last one for the year, 1960’s coaster - simple, smooth and solid...yeSSS! WE ARE CLOSED NOW UNTIL THE 15 JANUARY. HAPPY NEW YEAR!! and a warm thank you to all our customers for your support and good times in the shop. I’m off to NZ for some great riding in the South. Happy holidays ya’ll!!
We just finished putting together this beauty, a Starf⭐️ckers #mudmancx . Handbuild in Japan for @iatnk. Thanks for having us set this beasty up Jack! Our favourite was the Gevenalle shift system on the 1 x 10 drivechain #handbuiltwheels hubs saddle
Big wheel building day today, so far an electric front wheel, a pair of vintage bmx wheels and now a lovely set of road wheels on some of our favourite hubs - Shimano 600 tricolour. Keep these puppies serviced and they’ll last forever! . . . #vintagebicycle#wheelbuilding
Lots of Vintage Japanese bits going on our latest build, including as new Shimano 600 touring derailleurs and our favourite Suntour power shifters. It’s always fun to put together a group like this! . . . #shimano600#vintagebicycle
Julian just got some serious upgrades! He came to us with a stock Kona roadie and we’ve done a wheelset and hydro brake upgrade, new SRAM Red crankset and topped it off with a comfy and light Fabric Scoop. Bling! . . . #roadbike#konahonkyinc
We gone and done Dutch. Cavan has a very clear vision of his dream bicycle and he gave us the pleasure of making it happen. Hub brakes, hub gears, hub dynamo lighting, enclosed chain casing AND a saddle bag for your Stroopwafels! #custombicycle#melbournebikes
Breezy brought us all the bits from his busted Blucher Koln and we’ve built it all on to one of our frames - a late 70s Hillman. This one’s going to be a zippy single speed. From one Melbourne built frame to another! . . . #pedalcyclery#hillman
Bangin 90’s commutourer!! Marin from California produced some awesome steel mtb’s and touring bikes during this period. Matchy matchy Geax tyres and a 1x8 drivechain with Hope wide narrow chainring. Oh, and stainless steel mudguards. This puppy is pre-pimped and is for sale in store! p.p.s lovingly built by #ultramurray
With this bike we think we achieved a healthy mix of classic styling, high performance components and excellent riding comfort. How else would you want to commute?? #custombicycles#brookssaddle . . @stephaniebadman
Some of our NOS Kasuki handlebars going onto a custom road bike for Stephanie. She’ll soon be tucking in to her straight run 15km commute in Canberra. p.s. Signal Red is a favourite powdercoat colour! #kasuki#ultegra
Box o’ goodies! These are some bits to go on a couple of restorations we’re starting. One is a Bates of London, which is set to be pin striped and reinstated to its former glory. More pics to come! . . . #restoration#bikerestoration
Here’s Symon’s Colnago (Master?) townie in full. Some might consider it sacrilege, but as far as we’re concerned if it’s getting ridden it’s right! Such a beautiful conversion, nice work Symon. . . . #colnago#colnagomaster
We’ve never described our bikes as glamorous before, but this came close! A hand built Geoff Scott with a new paint job care of Kevin Wigham. Completed with A full Ultegra 6800 groupset. #handbuiltwheels#handmadeframe
This bike has been such a pleasure to put together. It’s a Geoff Scott Clamont frame built with Columbus SLX and we’re assembling it with a new Ultegra group and hand built wheels. Can’t wait to take it for a test ride!
Here’s a custom paint job! Candace’s dad slowly painted this Wuthrich with nail polish, it’s a surprisingly durable finish. Attractive too! And with its Basso fork and Campagnolo Record hubs its also a beautiful bike to ride.
Wedgewood? About a month ago we built Sarah a new bike, but unfortunately she had an accident and her frame was badly damaged - the good news is we had another frame in her size and were able to quickly swap all her components over to it.
Sometimes a bike is just calling out for a Wald Basket. Their versatility still astounds us, being equally suited to a step through townie and an internationally bound bikepacking/adventure bike. . . . #inthewald#waldbasket
Here’s our latest build on the shop floor - dubbed #theliberator (for its comfy Terry saddle). It’s a light and zippy single speed with fenders, perfect for getting around Melbourne in the wet and liberating it’s rider from the hassles of traffic (and depressing Melbourne winters).
Clean Slate! What should we make with it? These are the frames we love to build with, light Japanese made chromoly frames are the most versatile around - we could make it anything from a lightweight road bike with modern kit, to a gravel muncher thanks to wide tyre clearances to a nimble single speed thanks to the horizontal dropouts. #tange2#madeinjapan
